The Friends of the Museum group is a fund-raising body to assist the Museum with those costs that generally would not be covered under its normal operating budget. These might include a speaker, a workshop or a more expensive exhibit.
Friends are volunteers from the community who are interested in our area's rich culture and heritage, and want to preserve both for future generations. We meet monthly, generally the first Wednesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. at the Museum. New members are welcome.
We have held two small fund-raising events: a bake sale in October and more recently, an event that coincided with the Santa Claus parade in Fort Frances, held November 26th. For the latter, we sold home-made hot chocolate and cider, shortbread and gingerbread - scrumptious! - to parade watchers for a toonie. The Choraliers visited and sang Christmas carols. Awesome! Here is a picture of one of the snowmen made that day by Friend, Judy Kielczewski.
In the New Year, we will be participating in the community garage sale; partnering with the local Arts Collective and the Metis on something special for the Tug-of-War event; and planning a Wine & Cheese function in the fall. Watch for details on these and other events.
